Akaroa Voice is a new association for ratepayers and residents of the Akaroa area. At public meetings held in October 2018 it became obvious that residents were frustrated and concerned about the way the area was being treated. A large part of that was to do with the impact of cruise ships, with overcrowding of the township, congestion on the roads, and facilities which just cannot cope with the numbers. But residents also felt that Christchurch City Council was out of touch with what it meant to live in a place like Akaroa, or how a rural community works. Akaroa Voice exists so that you can have your say, and take back control.
